Organization Introduction
Firstly, the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy (UCCD) is a nonprofit organization that has been promoting citizen diplomacy for over fifty years. Overall, UCCD believes that one of the best ways to build lasting relationships and understanding between countries is through person-to-person interactions.
Connecting People from Different Backgrounds
UCCD organizes professional and cultural exchange programs for individuals from different backgrounds, including students, professionals, and community leaders. The goal is to promote mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration between Utahns and people from all around the world.
Empowering Youth through International Education
UCCD’s youth programs offer unique opportunities for young Utahns to learn about different cultures and perspectives, and develop leadership skills. Presently, The Global Leaders Youth Program and the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) are just two examples of UCCD’s efforts to empower young people to create positive change in their communities and beyond.
Strengthening International Partnerships
UCCD also works to strengthen international partnerships by connecting Utah organizations and businesses with their counterparts abroad. UCCD’s International Visitor Program (IVP) brings emerging leaders from around the world to Utah to learn about the state’s culture, economy, and governance. Consequently, UCCD has facilitated hundreds of partnerships and collaborations between Utah and countries like China, Mexico, and Germany.
Promoting Understanding and Collaboration
UCCD’s work is more important now than ever before. In today’s world, it is critical that we promote understanding and collaboration between people from different cultures and backgrounds.
